ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Samuel C. Sparks

Samuel C. Sparks is the founder of The Brew and Safe House Chicago, and a long-time leader in youth mentorship and community development on Chicago’s South Side. For more than fifteen years, his work has supported over 5,000 young people through employment pathways, leadership programming, and faith-centered guidance.

Through The Brew, Samuel has created a neighborhood café that serves as both a gathering space and a platform for opportunity—connecting business, mentorship, and community investment in one place.

His work extends across schools, correctional systems, and national partnerships, all grounded in a consistent belief: when young people are given structure, support, and real responsibility, they are prepared not just to participate in their communities, but to lead them.

COMMUNITY

Rooted in the neighborhood

The Brew began as a neighborhood café and has grown into a platform for mentorship, employment, and community connection. Today, the flagship location at 71st and South Yates serves as a gathering space for conversation, collaboration, and creative exchange—anchored in the belief that business can be a vehicle for service.

Through The Brew, Samuel continues building pathways for young people while creating spaces where community and culture can thrive together.

LOOKING AHEAD

Building together

The Brew is always looking for partners who share our values — organizations, creatives, and community leaders who want to collaborate on programming, events, and neighborhood initiatives. Our door is open.
